Watch how a Windscreen Replacement actually works
Not sure if it needs replacing?
Not every crack means a new windscreen — sometimes a quick chip repair is all you need. As a rough guide, if the damage is smaller than a coin and it’s not in your line of sight, we can usually repair it. But if the crack is longer than a bank card, sitting right in the driver’s view, or spreading toward the edge, replacement is the safe call.
Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly which one you need. If a repair will do the job, we’ll say so.

Your windscreen does more than keep the wind out
A lot of people don’t realise the windscreen is part of your car’s safety structure. It supports the roof in a rollover and it’s what the passenger airbag pushes against when it deploys. A poor fit or the wrong adhesive can quietly undo all of that.
That’s why we do every job ourselves — no subcontractors — using quality glass and giving the adhesive the proper time to cure before you drive off. It’s the difference between a windscreen that’s replaced and one that’s replaced right.

Windscreen replacement questions
Most windscreen replacements take about 60 to 90 minutes, plus a short wait while the adhesive cures before it’s safe to drive. We’ll give you an exact safe drive-away time on the day — for most modern adhesives it’s around an hour, not the “leave it overnight” some people expect. If your car needs camera recalibration, allow a bit longer; we do it in the same visit.
It depends on your car — the glass, sensors, and whether a camera needs recalibrating all change the price, which is why we quote from a photo rather than guessing. Send us a photo of the damage and your rego and we’ll give you a fast, free quote. And if you’re going through insurance, many policies cover windscreen damage with little or no excess, so it may cost you nothing.
Short answer: it depends on the crack, but it’s riskier than most people think. Your windscreen is part of the car’s structure — it supports the roof in a rollover and backs the passenger airbag. A small chip away from your line of sight is usually fine to drive on (get it repaired before it spreads); a long crack, especially in the driver’s view or reaching the edge of the glass, means you should book a replacement promptly. Not sure which yours is? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you straight.
Yes, it can. A crack or chip in the driver’s line of sight, or damage that affects the structure of the glass, is a common WOF failure in New Zealand. If your WOF is due, it’s worth sorting the windscreen first — a proper replacement fixes the issue completely.
Usually, yes. Most comprehensive car insurance policies in NZ cover windscreen damage, and many include glass cover with a reduced or zero excess. The part people dread is the paperwork — so we do it for you. Tell us your insurer and we’ll lodge the claim on your behalf and deal with them directly. You just book a time.
If your car has a camera behind the windscreen — and most cars from about 2018 onward do — then yes, recalibration isn’t optional. That camera runs safety features like lane-keep assist and automatic emergency braking, and once the glass is moved, it can read the road wrong. We’re certified to recalibrate it and do it in the same visit, so you’re not booking a second appointment somewhere else.
Yes. We run a mobile service across Tauranga — home, work, or wherever the car is. If the damage makes the car unsafe to drive, don’t risk it; tell us where it’s parked and we’ll come to you.
Often the same day, and usually faster than the nationwide chains — we’re a small local team, so you’re booking with the people who actually do the work. Send a photo of the damage and your rego and we’ll come back with the next available time.
